Join us for the August MOLAA Members Book Club meeting! Our book of the month is My Name is Emilia Del Valle by Isabel Allende. A historical novel by Isabel Allende, set in 19th-century San Francisco. The story follows Emilia, the daughter of an Irish nun and a Chilean aristocrat, who is raised by a loving stepfather. As a young woman, she defies societal norms to pursue her passion for writing, initially publishing under a male pseudonym. Emilia later becomes a journalist and travels to Chile to cover a civil war, where she uncovers truths about her heritage and identity. The novel explores themes of self-discovery, love, and the complexities of war. Light refreshments will be served.
