2:30 PM Screening of “Standing Above the Clouds, Directed by Jalena Keane-Lee

When a massive Thirty Meter Telescope is proposed to be built on Mauna Kea, an uprising of kiaʻi (protectors) in Hawaiʻi and around the world dedicate their lives to protecting the sacred mountain from further destruction.

Through the lens of mothers and daughters in three Native Hawaiian families, Standing Above the Clouds explores intergenerational healing and the impacts of safeguarding cultural traditions.

5:00 PM Music and Sound Performance with Micah Manaitai

Micah 'Manaitai' Garrido is a music and post production audio professional based in Los Angeles, CA. As a composer, his work has been featured in documentaries for PBS, The New York Times, and The New Yorker. His work as a sound editor includes America's Got Talent, American Idol, and The Bachelor. As an artist, his original music incorporates the CHamoru language and traditions of Guam, his birthplace. Standing Above the Clouds marks Micah's first theatrical mix for a feature film, and the upcoming film Remathau will include his first original score for a feature film.

This Compton native is dedicated to serving her community by hosting juice bars at the local parks and sponsoring many local events. Whether they’re ordering mocktails, a simple whiskey neat or a complex craft cocktail she takes pride in building relationships with regulars and newcomers alike, offering personalized recommendations and a warm, engaging presence. Lala is proud to be a MOLAA Bar Bartender where she serves up culturally relevant drinks at special events and festivals.
