In this 75-minute program, participants will discuss the significance of sustainable living practices in the Garifuna community and will create their own miniature cardboard home that represents the architecture from their homeland or local neighborhood. All materials are provided!
The miniature homes created in this workshop will be featured in our Miniature MOLAA Village presentation at the 2025 AfroLatinx Festival. This program will be led by Calvin Williams and community elder Bill Flores of the Garifuna Museum of Los Angeles.

Inspired by the early electronic work by Argentinian artist, Leo Núñez, and Peruvian artist Teresa Burga’s, join us as we create our own a 11x17 work of art using electrical circuitry and batteries. Established in 2011, the Latino Comics Expo is the premiere event to connect with Latinx and Latin American comic artists and animators, experts, and fans. This year, the Latino Comics Expo in collaboration with MOLAA, will be held in the Viva Event Center and runs from November 23rd to November 24th!

Join us for a very special two-hour family art workshop of altar-making in honor of Day of the Dead. Together we will learn about the history of ofrendas and create a community altar in the MOLAA Art Studio. Pan de muerto and champurrado will be served. Please bring a 4x6 photocopy of a loved one that you can plan on leaving with us. Framed photos may not be returned so please do not bring any precious items or items that you want returned.
Join us in the MOLAA lobby between October 24 and November 3rd to see the finalists of our annual mini ofrenda juried art presentation. Five winners will be selected, and their artwork will be put on public display in the MOLAA Lobby in honor of Dia de los Muertos. This event is free and there is no need to sign up!
