Community Workshop: Celebrating Afro Latinx: Building Community through Miniature Architecture (New Date)

New Date! Come celebrate the African influence on Latin American in this hands-on art making community workshop!

In this 75-minute program, participants will discuss the significance of sustainable living practices in the Garifuna community and will create their own miniature cardboard home that represents the architecture from their homeland or local neighborhood. All materials are provided!

The miniature homes created in this workshop will be featured in our Miniature MOLAA Village presentation at the 2025 AfroLatinx Festival. This program will be led by Calvin Williams and community elder Bill Flores of the Garifuna Museum of Los Angeles.

Community Workshop: Home Studio Lithograph Calendar

Learn a new printmaking technique and prepare for the new year with calendars and lithography! Participants will learn to make their own lithograph, print using inexpensive household items like soda and aluminum foil. A 2025 calendar template will be attached to create a calendar for the year!

Inspired by the early electronic work by Argentinian artist, Leo Núñez, and Peruvian artist Teresa Burga’s, join us as we create our own a 11x17 work of art using electrical circuitry and batteries. All materials are provided. Children are admitted but guardians are responsible for ensuring proper use of tools.
