Join us as our Summer Camp students demonstrate how art and creativity can be used as a tool for change by presenting examples of "artivism" in social movements such as Environmentalism, Body Positivity, and Accessibility.
Join us for this student presentation by MOLAA’s Summer Camp youth working together for a common goal to promote messages of diversity, inclusion, and equity in both the museum and within their own communities.
Join us for a summertime community art workshop outdoors! Make your own sun print using stencils and flat objects. All materials are provided, but you can bring your own objects too! Your spot will be offered to another attendee if you arrive more than 15 minutes late. All materials are provided. Cost is $5 dollars.

Join us for a very special performance and art workshop in partnership with the Long Beach Opera celebrating the life and work Mexican-American queer post-war composer, Pauline Oliveros. A pioneer of experimental and electronic music who challenged societal hierarchical and patriarchal structures through her music, Pauline transformed transformed the very act of listening, encouraging musicians, and non-musicians alike, to engage with sound and each other with empathy and mutual respect. Free to families and MOLAA members. Enjoy the performance in the garden, and stay for the art workshops and food. Food and drink available for purchase.

We invite you to join us for an experimental abstract painting workshop inspired by the tempera paintings of artist Marianela de La Hoz, featured in Ironias del Sur: From the MOLAA Permanent Collection. You will learn to make their own tempera paints from pigments and eggs and make an artwork using your own custom color palette too! All materials are provided.
Artist Betsabee Romero creates artworks that addresses human migration through unconventional industrial materials. Join us for a special Rubber Stamp Printmaking workshop where you will make your own poster inspired by the symbols found in Romero's work. All materials are provided.

Learn a new printmaking technique and prepare for the new year with calendars and lithography! Participants will learn to make their own lithograph, print using inexpensive household items like soda and aluminum foil. A 2025 calendar template will be attached to create a calendar for the year!
Inspired by the early electronic work by Argentinian artist, Leo Núñez, and Peruvian artist Teresa Burga’s, join us as we create our own a 11x17 work of art using electrical circuitry and batteries. All materials are provided. Children are admitted but guardians are responsible for ensuring proper use of tools.

Inspired by the architectural nature of Alexandre Arrechea’s exhibition “Intersected Horizons,” we offer you an opportunity to learn five-point perspective drawing to create a cityscape like you’ve never drawn before. In this technical workshop you will learn to use 5 vanishing points to create the illusion of a 3-dimensional space on a 2-dimensional surface. All materials are provided.
Join us for an enlightening musical workshop inspired by the sounds of Native American instruments. Attendees will decorate their own flute and learn how to play their ancestral instrument tool. All materials are included in the cost. This workshop is open to all ages, no musical experience is necessary! We recommend participants attend for the full duration of the workshop.
Learn beginning techniques for sewing Mexican servilletas and small pouches for the table. In honor of our exhibition, Festín de Sabores, we will learn about the traditional use of the servilleta to keep delicious homemade tortillas warm and how to stitch your own colorful fabric. All materials provided. Children under the age of 10 are welcome but parents are responsible for ensuring proper use of tools.
